What our customers say......

  • I really like this place especially after a nice long walk in the park. It's only about 15 minutes down the road from me, and it's a really nice local. It has a nice restaurant if the bar area is full. Clientele are really nice, staff are nice and friendly. There's just something about a wood burning in a fireplace that makes it all nice and cosy. Plus there's lots to look at around the pub, a great ecclectic collection of old knic-knacks. They serve craft beers, great steaks, and awesome desserts. Ask the bar man to give you a history of the bar itself.

  • The pride and joy of Blackhorse avenue. The staff know me by name. The wine couldn't be better. The atmosphere and friendly service is exceptional. The pub uses the same calp limestone in the masonry work as the Phoenix park wall, giving it a real traditional character. Bands play there regularly and the food on the menu is beyond the abilities of any restaurant within a 10 mile radius. Oh and I nearly forgot the most important thing, the Guinness is the business.

  • As a regular patron of this establishment, I can recommend the Hole In The Wall as an enjoyable place to wile away some time in good company.  Stepping inside is like going back in time - it's as if you have just alighted from a coach, the horses are being stabled and you are resting for the next stage of your journey to Navan (or suchlike places!).  It has that olde worlde charm, nooks and crannies, candles, real fire and old odds and bods all around you (and I'm not referring to the staff :-)).  As for the staff, they are friendly and professional, a nice mix of nationals and non-nationals.  There are not many places you will go where you will find a Chinese person with a "coupla fochal"!! The €5 tapas are great value if you fancy a pint and a snack.  For the hungrier of you, there is a varied menu of more substanial meals.  If you like your wine, the wine shop is great with labels you won't easily find in the supermarkets.

  • Wow. Excellent food, excellent service, fantastic atmosphere! Staff could not be more helpful if they tried! We had the tapas and most of them were fantastic. Stuffed mushrooms were wonderful, tempura prawns great, goats cheese was good. Beer selection was amazing, especially as a non alcoholic beer lover. I will be back.

  • I was in here over the Christmas the I must say, they go all out with the Christmas decorations, the place was positively festive, enough so that I might just make a trip here every Christmas. This a long and narrow but, it takes 3 steps to walk across in one direction, and 30 in the other. The food is top notch, and if you wish, you can buy drink from the Off License and then BYOB for your sit down meal. The service was a bit slow but then there was not an empty seat in the house so the kitchen must have been very busy. Hole in the Wall is definitely worth a visit.

Comfortable place! Staff are very friendly! One of the things that caught my attention was this very old section where u see old medicine bottles. I always sit next to the fire... I've had lunch here so many times and I can say "Trio stuffed Pepper" gorgeous!! "Fish and chips" uhmm!!! Veggie pasta!! Is tasteful too!! I will have to come here in the evening for some drinks! Amazing place! Fully recommend it!

  • This place has a great atmosphere all year round (especially so at Christmas!). The food is lovely, they've a great selection of wine and beers. If you don't want anything at the bar you're welcome to take anything off the shelf in the off license with free corkage. Total bonus! It's one of the best bottle shops in Dublin. Tell yourself you'll go for a walk in the park, then get sucked into spending the afternoon there - it's worth it!

  • Absolutely amazingly delicious food! Traditional Irish fare prepared with an artful style. The stuffed pepper trio is exquisite! The hand-cut fries are like crack! I'm told the lamb was amazing, as was the fish and chips and the burger! The place has great style and really is my favorite so far in Dublin. I don't give five stars often but this place really deserves it.
